Interview with Leslie Dover

Leslie Dover

Why did you choose to write about fae?     Faeries are magical beings and I love the fantasy of them.  There’s a wide range of things you can write about when it comes to the fae.  Your imagination can just run wild with it and you can come up with your own faery world.  After I finish the Forever Fae series, I might venture off and do something different, but I am kind of stuck on the faeries right now.  I might write a spinoff series after this one.

What is your favorite thing about being a southern girl?   SWEET TEA!!!!  I love my sweet tea and I thought I was going to die when I travelled up north to Chicago and tried to order sweet tea and, of course, they didn’t have it.  I totally forgot that sweet tea isn’t served in the north.  I was told by the server that I was not in Georgia.  I felt so stupid after that, but it was my first time travelling to anywhere in the northern states.

What’s your favorite thing about the writing process?   My favorite part of the writing process would have to be the imagination part.  Thinking of a story in your head and playing it out is the best feeling.  I would have to say getting close to the characters as well.  I think of them all the time and I’ve grown really close to them.  I talk about them to my family as if they are real people…..lol.  They look at me like I’m crazy.

Do you believe in UFOs?    Yes, definitely.  I tried talking to my mom about this stuff and she just shakes her head and gives me one of those “you have got to be kidding” looks.  I don’t know if this makes me weird or what, but I do believe in other types of things out there in the unknowns of space.   I don’t think we are alone in this universe.  There are so many different galaxies out there and what if there is one just like ours with its own little earth in it.  That means there could be more people out there. (cue twilight zone music) :)

What was your favorite cartoon growing up?    I would have to say the Looney Tunes with Bugs Bunny and Daffy the duck, but I also really liked Rainbow Brite, Poochie (no one remembers that one, she was the little pink dog) and the Smurfs.  One of my all time favorites when I was a little bit older was sailor moon.  I still watch those cartoons to this day….lol!!!  I have two kids now so cartoons are pretty much all I watch these days.

Would you rather have fame or fortune?  I think I would rather have fame.  Just getting my name out there and having people talk about my books will be enough for me.  Money is always great, but nothing would be more special than to hear people actually enjoying your work.  I can’t wait for my book to be released.

Pick one book that is your all time favorite?  Wow….that is a very tough question.  I have so many books that are my all time favorites.  How about a series then?……The Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost would have to be my all time favorite set of books.  My favorite indie author would have to be Quinn Lofits with her Grey Wolves series.  My list could go on and on and on, but these are my two favorites.  I hope you don’t mind. (bites nails)

Embarrassing guilty pleasure?  I love cookie cakes.  This is a secret so don’t tell anybody….(shhhhhh), but when my husband goes out of town my daughter and I always buy a cookie cake to munch on while he’s gone, and not to mention the extra icing we get to put on top. (*snickers*)

Your favorite type of music?  I am so stuck on Hot Chelle Rae right now.  Boy bands are awesome!!!

Your favorite color of Skittle?  I don’t eat skittles, but if I did I would have to say the purple ones probably.  I was, however, nicknamed skittles in school because of my love in wearing bright colors.  Hey, I could never pick just one color.  I would also paint each of my nails a different color as well, oh wait…..I still do that. (Laughs)   I also sported this bright neon green jacket that I bought from the Express every day it was cold when I was in high school. That thing was so bright it was blinding.

Your favorite memory.   My favorite memory would have to be of my grandmother.  She passed away a few years ago, but I loved spending time with her.  When I was in high school I sometimes chose to spend those weekend nights with her instead of going out with my friends.  She was an amazing lady and she always helped me out with my problems and was always there to listen to me.  I don’t think I had ever cried so much in my life until the day she died.  I miss her terribly, but I have all of those wonderful memories of her to help me through.

Your favorite quote.  “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the things I can,And the wisdom to know the difference.”

Your favorite way to spend an evening.   READING!!!!  Well actually reading and writing now, but I normally read about 200 books a year.  That number is a little lower this year since I decided to write, but reading is my favorite all time thing to do.  I am always looking for new authors to read.

Anything you would like to say to the aspiring authors reading this blog?  Of course…..I would like to say that writing has been one of the most exciting accomplishments of my life.  I may not be a big time seller when my book gets published but I am okay with that.  Just knowing that I put my heart and my soul into my work and completed it is enough for me.  Writing has always been my passion ever since I was a little girl, and with the push of a very special author friend of mine did I finally decide to give it a try.  It takes a lot of time and imagination, but if you put your heart in it you can make anything happen.

Forever Fae- blurb

He leans down, lips parted, and then our lips connect……….We didn’t know that this one kiss has FOREVER changed the Land of the Fae.

According to the Prophecy proclaimed many years ago, Princess Calista of the Summer Court is destined to change the Land of the Fae from the evil determined to destroy it.  Her powers are phenomenal, and she secretly trains for battle with her handsome warrior friend, Merrick, who unbeknownst to her protects her heart as well, in hopes of keeping it for himself.  At least, until the seductive Prince Ryder attends the Guardian Ceremony and instantly sends a fire burning through her veins and a connection so deep they both discover a love above anything imaginable.

No one knows how Calista is destined to change the kingdoms, but there is one that does.  He not only craves Calista’s power, but her body as well, and his goal is to steal her power, make her his Dark Queen, and take over the Land of the Fae.

Will the evil succeed in claiming Calista’s soul?  Or will the two men that fight for her heart save her from despair, and help her fulfill her destiny to become what she was meant to be.
