Interview with Airicka Phoenix
Thank you so much for having me over. It’s such a pleasure to meet you and your readers.
1) Tell us your favorite bad joke?
A duck walks into a bar and asks, “Got any grapes?”
The bartender, confused, tells the duck no. The duck thanks him and leaves.
The next day, the duck returns and asks, “Got any grapes?”
Again, the bartender tells him, “No — the bar does not serve grapes, has never served grapes and, furthermore, will never serve grapes.” The duck thanks him and leaves.
The next day, the duck returns, but before he can say anything, the bartender yells, “Listen, duck! This is a bar! We do not serve grapes! If you ask for grapes again, I will nail your stupid beak to the bar!”
The duck is silent for a moment, and then asks, “Got any nails?”
Confused, the bartender says no.
“Good!” says the duck. “Got any grapes?”
2) Where is your favorite place to travel?
I’ve traveled quite a bit and have to say Nova Scotia and New York were two of my favorite places.
3) Do your children have imaginary friends?
They don’t anymore, but my oldest had an imaginary friend when he was very small.
4) Tell us what Touching Smoke is about.
Touching Smoke is about a girl who was created by a monster to destroy the world. Her only savior is a love that can destroy her.
5) What’s your favorite thing about the writing process?
The editing. Most people will disagree, but I love when I’m at the end of the book, know my characters, know the story, know where it begins and where it ends and all I have to do is untangle any knots in the middle.
6) Three facts about you?
1) I’m full of really bad jokes.
2) I’m a creature of the night.
3) I really hate red foods.
7) Your thoughts on Self-Publishing.
I think it’s fantastic that we’ve come so far in publishing. I think getting published by a company is truly the most exhilarating of things and only the very lucky seem to have it as such. But I think some of the most amazing stories I’ve read are those from Indie Authors, some who have been rejected by companies multiple times. Because of this, I have to say I am glad such a thing exist so that we could have the pleasure of reading the books we wouldn’t normally otherwise.
8) Tell us what you are working on now!
I’m working on several projects right now, including Touching Eternity, which is a Touch Series Novella and will be released in time for Christms and Touching Fire, which is book #2. I’m also working on several other projects that I’m hoping to unveil soon.
9) Do you believe in UFOs?
I believe that we can’t possibly be the only begins in this entire universe. Whether or not I believe there are little green men with a probing fetish, I can’t truthfully say, but I do believe there has to be other living beings out there somewhere.
10) Anything you would like to say to the aspiring authors reading this blog?
The worst injustice you could commit is giving up on yourself when the going gets tough. Nothing in life is worthwhile if it comes easily.
Thank you once again for having me! I truly had so much fun answering your questions.
