LISA RENEE JONES

When did you first decide you wanted to write?

I still owned my business and I was feeling the need to explore some past interest. My staff had no idea I did a couple independent films and wrote a script. The one day I picked up a book and knew my love of books was where my creativity was going to go.

Did you get nervous the first time you put your work out there?

I still get nervous! IF I WERE YOU has made me more nervous than any book ever. I think because its special to me and very different for me.

What is your favorite genre to write?

Sexy suspense like IF I WERE YOU and my Tall, Dark, and Deadly series.

What is your favorite genre to read?

It’s a mood thing. I love Lori Foster and I love Karen Moning as an example of how all over the board I am.

Do you have a favorite author?

No favorite but many favorites. Karen and Lori. Karen Robards. Shannon McKenna. Just to name a few.

Is there something you want to write about, that you haven’t yet?

IF I WERE YOU was that story and the trilogy is that series. And one other something that will follow the trilogy:)

What is one silly fact about you?

I’m clumsy. As in badly. I have stupid crap happen to me. Example. Once the valet in the rental van goes to help me when we stop at the airport. He grabs my computer case and manages  to attach the sticky flap on the side of it to the front of my pantyhose. He kept walking and tore the leg out while everyone around gasps and covered their mouths. I had ten minutes to get to my flight.

What is next for you, and what projects do you have coming up?

The next Tall, Dark and Deadly book is out in October — Beneath the Secrets.

Spaghetti or Lasagna and why?

I love the cheese only Lasagna at Olive Garden. It’s the sauce and cheese and I get it every time I go. I love it.

Do you have a favorite quote?

If you aren’t with me when  I’m on the bottom you aren’t with me when I’m on the top — Will Smith

All the people who thought I was a fool and treated me like it when I left the corporate world to write made this quote mean a lot to me.

You can go on a picnic with a character from any novel, who would it be, and what would you bring?

Well I don’t know if I would go on a picnic with any of them but I think Sara from IF I WERE YOU would happily go on one with Chris and he’d bring his paint brush. I wouldn’t mind pretending to be her in that moment for a scene I was writing:)
